Anatomy of a Trade Secret Investigation This presentation will cover how to go about the identification and analysis of devices that contain trade secrets (or intellectual property).  We will cover topics like looking for devices that have been connected, files copied to and opened from removable devices, printed document artifacts, emails being sent home, and cloud storage locations.   

Presented by: James D. Vaughn, Managing Director at iDiscovery Solutions (iDS)  iDiscovery Solutions (iDS) is an award winning e-Discovery, expert testimony, and digital forensics firm. Mr. Vaughn, who heads the firm’s Costa Mesa, CA office, is a court-recognized expert who has given testimony in nearly 65 cases involving topics such as evidence preservation, documentation of events, and computer forensic methodologies and procedures. In addition to being an EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), he is certified by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) as a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE). Among Mr. Vaughn’s many accomplishments, he has co-developed and taught computer forensic courses for the California Department of Justice.  Mr. Vaughn utilizes his extensive experience working on litigation and consulting matters along with his 16 years of law enforcement experience to train law enforcement officers, attorneys, and other examiners who seek his expertise in computer forensics and high-technology related issues involving best practices and methodologies. He serves his clients through the litigation or consulting lifecycle by performing crucial tasks, including the scoping, preserving, gathering, processing, hosting, reviewing and producing of data, as well as computer forensics.

OCPA is a State Bar of California Approved MCLE provider and certifies that this seminar qualifies for MCLE CREDIT 1.0.

Event Fee: $10.00 for OCPA members, $20.00 for non-members.    

Parking: Parking tickets will be validated so remember to bring your ticket to the meeting.

Lunch: A light lunch will be provided by iDiscovery Solutions.
