ORANGE COUNTY PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION 30TH ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE

Morning and Lunchtime Keynote will be presented by: Sean Carter, Esq.

Sean Carter is the founder of Lawpsided Seminars, a company devoted to solid legal continuing education with a healthy dose of laughter. Sean Carter is a Harvard law graduate who practiced law for a decade at major law firms on both coasts and in-house at a public-traded financial institution.

In crafting his presentations, Sean draws heavily on his wealth of experience in the law and on his background as a stand-up comedian.   His often "lawpsided" approach to the everyday dilemmas faced by lawyers has made him a favorite at legal conferences. Each year, he presents more than 100 programs on such topics as legal ethics, professionalism, stress management, diversity, legal marketing, and presentation skills.

Morning Keynote- 1 hour (Ethics MCLE)

PASSION OF THE PARALEGAL: Has the practice of law lost its spark for you? Do you feel like your just going through the motions? In this highly humorous yet motivating presentation, Sean Carter will show you how to re-ignite your passion for the law focusing on the S.E.L.F.

1. Selfless Service to the Public
2. Excellence in Skill and Character
3. Loyalty to the Best Interest of the Client; and
4. Fidelity to the Law and the Profession

Lunchtime Keynote- 1.5 hours (Ethics MCLE)

THE 2016 ETHY AWARDS: "THE BEST AND WORST IN LEGAL ETHICS: This is a Oscar-themed program that recaps the worst ethics violations of the last year, in such categories as "Most Creative Billing," "Least Competent in a Legal Representation," "Mr/Mrs. Uncongeniality," and so much more. This program is perfect for paralegals. In a number of the cases, the lawyers were disciplined for the acts of paralegals, legal assistants and others. As a result, it might have been helpful for those lawyers to have knowledgeable paralegals who could have said, "What you talking 'bout, Willis?" In the process of recapping some of the most egregious instances of unethical behavior, Mr. Carter will demonstrate how the rest of us can avoid more common ethical violations.
