Valuing Assets in Probate

The Probate Referees will discuss what is needed to inventory assets, items that may assist them, and other types of valuations conducted by Probate Referees.

Probate Referees: Dennis Illingworth and Lora Piazza

Speaker BiosMs. Lora Piazza is a 1971 Graduate of San Diego State. After graduation Lora went into the Real Estate field. Just before graduation she purchased her first 4 plex and rented out her home. She received her real estate license in 1971 and her Brokers license one year later. Lora returned to Orange County, where she grew up, to take care of my aging mother. In 1986 she passed the State Controller’s licensing exam and was appointed a Probate Referee.

Mr. Dennis Illingworth graduated from Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa and California State University Long Beach. California Probate Referee and serving Orange County Superior Court for 24 years. He has completed over 3000 real property appraisals accepted by Supreme Court and tax authorities; completed appraisals of business interests, securities and taxable personal property; co-owned several companies - Long Beach Trust Deed, Inc; Cornerstone Financial, Inc., where he managed the businesses and performed appraisals ; Co-owned MLH & Associates Real Estate Brokerage; and Denmore Financial Inc. and was the President and Co-Owner of residential, hotel and commercial units. Dennis is currently the Vice President of the California Probate Referee Association and has served as the past President. He is involved with the Foundation for Children’s Cultural Arts (2000 – Present); Front Row Center Children’s Theatre (1998-Present); Member of the California Probate Referee Assoc.; and Member of the California State University Long Beach Alumni Association. He is married, a resident of Los Angeles and Orange Counties for 55 years.

Event Fee: $10.00 for OCPA members, $20.00 for non-members and $20.00 for all walk-ins who have not pre-registered online (both members and non-members) IF SPACE IS AVAILABLE. Walk-ins are on a first come first serve basis.

Credit for a future meeting will be held in your OCPA account which may be applied to future meetings if your cancellation is received no less than 48 hours prior to the event.
