Ethics Update – Recent Decisions and Guidance on Billing Legal Fees

SYNOPSIS: Guidance on billing legal fees from the California State Bar’s Committee on Mandatory Fee Arbitration.  Lessons learned on billing from the Taco Bell Wage and Hour litigation.  The California Supreme Court’s recent decision in Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors v. Superior Court on the application of attorney client privilege to invoices for legal fees.


Presented by: Carole J. Buckner, Esq.

Speaker Bio: Carole J. Buckner is the owner of Buckner Law Corp in Newport Beach, and focuses her practice on legal ethics, professional responsibility and the law of lawyering.  She is the Dean of St. Francis School of Law in Newport Beach.  Carole also serves as chair of the Orange County Bar Association’s Professionalism and Ethics Committee and is the contributing editor of the Ethically Speaking column in the OC Lawyer Magazine.

She earned her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.
