Social Media and the Law (Practical Application)

Jeff Koller, Esq. will discuss Social Media and how it pertains to the practice of law. Various social media issues arise when individuals share content online across different platforms Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr, Wikipedia and more. Social media laws relating to who owns the content being shared, when and where sharing is appropriate and what may be imposed on sharing often raise issues relating to IP Infringement, Ethics and more. Come learn about this fascinating area of law and what you can do to protect yourself and your law firm. 

Career Development: (A Working Paralegal Perspective):

Panel of entry-level Paralegals from various paralegal programs will give their insight on how they landed their first legal job.

Keynote Speaker (A Professional Paralegal Perspective):

Kristine is a Senior Paralegal/Business Development Director for Butterfield Schechter LLP. She serves as the National Association of Legal Assistants*Paralegals (NALA) Liaison for the San Diego Paralegal Association as well as the Board Advisor and Immediate Past President of the California Alliance of Paralegal Associations. She is a past member of the NALA Continuing Education Council and Ethics Chair. She was a runner up for the 2008 LAT Paralegal of the Year and, in 2009, was a finalist for the San Diego Daily Transcript’s “Top Paralegal” award. She was recently reappointed as a Commissioner and serves as the Chair of the City of San Diego’s Citizens Equal Opportunity Commission. Kristine is a member of the University of San Diego Paralegal Program’s Advisory Board and serves as the Secretary of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of San Diego County. During her tenure with the Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council, Kristine served as Secretary and Vice President. Kristine authored a chapter in a leadership book that was published in 2014.
