Ethics for Immigration Paralegals

How to Avoid the Unauthorized Practice of Law


Presented by: Flavia Santos Lloyd, Attorney at Law  

Speaker Bio:  Attorney Flavia Santos Lloyd is passionate about immigration law and the community she serves.  As an immigrant herself, Ms. Santos Lloyd can relate to her clients’ experience during the immigration process.  With focus on quality customer service, zealous and diligent representation of her clients, and a proven track record, she has served a wide range of her clients’ immigration needs.  Before graduating from law school, Ms. Santos Lloyd worked for 12 years in the immigration law field as a supervising immigration paralegal at a leading Orange County immigration law firm.  While in law school, Ms. Santos Lloyd volunteered at immigration clinics and other immigration-related organizations.  After passing the bar exam, she became an immigration attorney and law professor at several law schools and at a bar exam review company.  In addition to teaching subjects tested in the California Bar Exam, she also teaches Immigration Law as an Assistant Professor of Law at Irvine University.  Her practice focuses on a broad spectrum of immigration matters such as family-based, employment-based, naturalization, waivers, adjustment of status, consular processing, asylum, and removal defense.  She also devotes her time to scholarly work by writing research papers and presenting them at national and international conferences.  Ms. Santos Lloyd is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the American Bar Association (ABA), Orange County and Los Angeles County Bar Associations, Orange County Hispanic Bar Association, among other organizations, and she is an active member of State Bar of California.

OCPA is a State Bar of California Approved MCLE provider and certifies that this seminar qualifies for MCLE ETHICS CREDIT 1.0.

Event Fee: $10.00 for OCPA members, $20.00 for non-members and $20.00 for all walk-ins who have not pre-registered online (both members and non-members) IF SPACE IS AVAILABLE. Walk-ins are on a first come first serve basis.

PLEASE NOTE: Effective January 1, 2016, OCPA will no longer accept checks as a form of payment for event registration. Please log in to your OCPA account to submit electronic payment via credit card, debit card or PayPal.   

*Space is limited for all OCPA events, so please submit your reservation via this website event. Walk-ins are welcome on a first come first serve basis if space is available.

*Cancellation Policy - If you need to cancel your reservation, please e-mail the Immigration Section Chair, Paulina Wisniewska at paulinwisniewska@gmail.com. No refunds shall be issued. Credit for a future meeting shall be held in your OCPA account which may be applied to future meetings if your cancellation is received no less than 48 hours prior to the event. 

Please note: Credit shall not be issued to passport holders.
