Discrimination and Implicit Bias Post "Me-too"

An overview of discrimination in the workplace; considerations post "me-too," including implicit bias.

Presented by: Kristin Walker-Probst of Womble, Bond, Dickerson (US) LLP

Speaker Biography:

Kristin Walker-Probst is an experienced trial lawyer and civil litigator, having tried well over 100 cases in both State and Federal Court. With a deep knowledge of evidence and juries, Kristin is adept at case workup, settlement, and trials for a wide variety of cases. After an initial career as a prosecutor with both the Riverside and Los Angeles County District Attorneys’ Offices, she has focused the last 15 years of her practice handling civil trials, including case workup, settlement, and trial.

Since 1999, Kristin has tried over 60 jury trials and 75 bench trials/juvenile adjudications. She has examined and counseled thousands of witnesses in a variety of courtroom hearings. She routinely takes and defends depositions – both expert and non-expert.

With a constant eye on what a jury might eventually do, Kristin’s approach to litigation is unique. She excels at early case evaluation and issue spotting, case positioning and settlement. Additionally, she is skilled at witness preparation – both for deposition and for trial. Of course, should the case be ones of those that needs to go the distance, Kristin has extensive and successful experience with actual trials – an experience that is rare in the civil litigation world.

Kristin’s litigation background is also broad, including the areas of financial services, general business litigation, personal injury and labor and employment. Regarding her labor and employment practice, Kristin presents both on and offsite seminars for clients on sexual harassment, discrimination, and related issues.

In addition to her litigation and trial practice, Kristin is an adjunct Trial Advocacy Professor at Loyola Law School, where she teaches in the area of trial skills and evidence. She also has prior experience as an adjunct professor in Evidence and she has coached and judged Loyola Law School’s Byrne Trial Team at various times since 2000.
