STUDENT SECTION MEETING Hosted by the Orange County Paralegal Association & Santa Ana College

Keynote Speaker:

Brittany Nash is a 2012 UCI Paralegal program alumnus that is now Senior Associate-Legal for HCP, Inc. a publically traded company based in Irvine, CA. Brittany previously worked as a Corporate Paralegal for Stradling, Yocca Carlson & Rauth, P.C. one of Orange County’s largest corporate law firms. How was Brittany able to land both of these highly demanded jobs with no prior legal experience? Come hear her story and her perspective on being a corporate paralegal in a law firm versus an in-house paralegal for a public company.

Legal Technology Spotlight:

“Introductory look into E-discovery and Excel Software” E-discovery is the term used for electronic discovery. It is a newer field within the legal community, and a potentially lucrative one for those Paralegals who are proficient in this technology. This evolving technology and recent amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure have spawned one of the fastest growing specialties in the legal industry.  This presentation will also include a discussion on “Privilege Logs” and their importance during the discovery process.

Recruiting & Job Opportunities:

Come hear about the current job outlook for entry level paralegals. In addition, learn effective resume writing tips such as when to use bullet points, avoiding first person pronouns, and when to use cover letters and much more…..
