Privacy in the Workplace – Emerging Trends

This presentation will take a look at the latest issues surrounding what rights employees and employers have in the workplace regarding the issue of privacy. The balance is becoming more equal, but we’ll review recent court cases, legislation and best practices within the employment litigation field.

Presented by: Andrea W. S. Paris, Esq.  Ms. Paris is an experienced counselor and litigator who has represented private and public entity clients in a variety of civil litigation matters. Ms. Paris’s overall practice includes employment advisement and litigation on behalf of businesses, breach of contract litigation, business fraud litigation, intellectual property litigation, trade secret misappropriation, premises liability litigation, commercial disputes, and appellate advocacy including writs and appeals before the California Court of Appeal.

She specializes in employment law and business litigation. In the employment law area, Ms. Paris advises and assists small to medium-sized business with employee classification determinations (exempt, non-exempt, independent contractor), wage and hour issues, pregnancy and disability leave laws, discrimination claims, employee handbook updates and sexual harassment prevention training.

Ms. Paris received her Juris Doctorate Degree from Chapman University School of Law, in Orange, CA, where she received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Legal Research and Writing and Corporations. In law school, Ms. Paris competed in the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Regional Competition and was a member of the Mock Trial, Moot Court, and Alternative Dispute Resolutions Boards. Additionally, Ms. Paris was a judicial extern for the Honorable Thomas E. Hollenhorst at the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division Two. Ms. Paris received her Bachelor’s Degree with Honors from Occidental College, majoring in Diplomacy and World Affairs. Prior to starting her own practice and joining Julander, Brown & Bollard (Of Counsel), Ms. Paris was an associate at Noland, Hamerly, Etienne, & Hoss in Salinas, California. Ms. Paris has also practiced at the law firm of Lynberg & Watkins in Orange, California.
