UPDATE 8/31/2020 - THIS EVENT WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL 2021. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING!!
________________________________________________________________
Dear OCPA,
Yesterday morning, Gov. Gavin Newsom
joined state health officials and recommended
the cancellation of gatherings of 250 or more
people across the entire state, escalating the
effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The leadership team at Working Wardrobes is
in agreement with this recommendation.
Out of an abundance of caution, deep respect for our community partners and a firm
belief that we must do the right thing, we have decided to reschedule Walk in Their
Boots until Saturday, September 12, 2020, a date on which we can honor our veterans
and accords with a national day of remembrance.
We know that you share our belief that this is the right decision at this time. Your
partnership and our concern for the community’s health make it impossible to reach any
other conclusion. We are in this together. Reaching out to you at a time like this poses
logistical, financial and personal issues for all of us. We truly hope that you and your
team can still participate on September 12th. Please let me know if you cannot . . . and
please let me know your thoughts on our decision.
We hope that you can join us this fall in a triumphal celebration of resilience. Walk in
Their Shoes is an integral event and makes it possible for us to fund VetNet, a program
that provides veterans from every branch of the military with the tools and skills they
need to find meaningful employment after service.
Thank you for your support in these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Steve Forry
