Cannabis & The Laws: Business & Criminal

Learn valuable information regarding California Cannabis Laws as they pertain to Criminal Defense and applying for, owning and operating a Cannabis Business.

 Presenters' Biographies

Craig Wasserman went to law school at Western State University where he successfully passed the California State Bar Exam on his first attempt.

In 2000, Craig and his little brother Marc began to work in the same office but separately operated their own law firms. Craig, having more experience than his brother, mentored Marc for several years before they decided to join forces, becoming The Pot Brothers at Law. It was Craig’s son Jerett who influenced him to concentrate on cannabis law. Jerett wanted to start a business in the marijuana industry leaving Craig and his brother Marc determined to learn all they could to prepare him, ensuring he stayed compliant with the law. With over 30 years of legal experience and extensive knowledge regarding cannabis laws, Craig continues to utilize the platforms he’s helped develop to educate and advocate for others who wish to professionally and legally work in the cannabis industry.

Marc Wasserman is a renaissance man as evidenced by his extensive array of experiences and diverse influences on his style. Marc had completed several college courses in the past, but his strength in academics was not apparent until Law School. It was the fear of failure that pushed him to excel, spending countless hours studying in the Law Library. Resulting of his commitment to succeed, he became an honor student, won an American Jurisprudence Award for legal writing, and completed Law School in just 2 ½ years.

Marc’s next step was to take The California State Bar exam, which was more of a challenge; passing the test on his third attempt. His experience is documented in his semi-autobiographical film, Triple Latte. Marc was sworn in June 1996 and became an attorney; that same year, Prop 215 passed in California. Over the next 20 years, Marc divided his time between his law practice, making movies, and starting a family. Today, Marc is one ½ of the business Pot Brothers at Law, which was co-founded with his brother Craig. Marc’s background in the arts combined with his legal expertise has contributed to the successful development of various platforms utilized for advocacy and education regarding the laws surrounding cannabis. Through these platforms, Marc continues to help spread awareness while showing the public that you can be a professional and work in the cannabis industry.
