Lunch and Learn: Ethics

Civility, Wherefore Art Thou?

This presentation is a reminder that all parties have to cooperate. Speakers will present recaps of certain appellate decisions and discuss how to put civility in practice.

Presented by Richard Seely, Kahana & Feld LLP and
Mike Weathers, US Legal

Rick Seely is a Partner in Kahana Feld’s construction, general liability, and insurance defense practice groups. Mr. Seely has 27 years of experience representing clients mainly in business litigation, construction defect litigation, and general insurance defense matters. He has handled numerous matters from initial case introduction through trial. Mr. Seely also regularly presents and moderates continuing education panels for organizations such as The CLM, West Coast Casualty’s Construction Defect Seminar, and the OCBA. His topics range from the basics of subrogation claims; the analysis of indemnification clauses; construction litigation trends; and his favorite: civility among lawyers.

Mike Weathers is a Director of Business Development for U.S. Legal Support with over fifteen years of experience partnering with law firms and corporations during litigation. Formerly with Merrill Corporation, Mr. Weathers’ successful tenure at U.S. Legal Support has been defined by his ability to focus on supporting attorneys and their staff – not only in depositions, but through e-discovery, records retrieval, and the many nuanced facets of trial.  Mr. Weathers also sits on the Advisory Board for University of California Irvine’s Customer Experience Certification Program.
