Case Studies in Cannabis Law
In this presentation, Seena Max Samimi will be presenting case studies in cannabis law, focusing on matters that he himself has handled, and covering topics as far ranging as 1) local administrative approvals for licenses, 2) cannabis deals and acquisitions, and related regulatory diligence, and 3) the wide range of litigation related to the cannabis industry, including business disputes, land use and zoning issues, and local government license revocation disputes.
Presenter's Biography
Seena Max Samimi is an associate in the Government, Land Use, Environmental and Energy Group, and serves as the regulatory lawyer in JMBM's Legal Cannabis Practice Group. He focuses on assisting clients in successfully navigating complex regulatory, zoning, and environmental issues. He is uniquely positioned to support clients with their development projects, and with litigation, due to his extensive experience throughout his career as 1) outside-firm counsel for public entities such as cities and counties, 2) in-house counsel for an international construction company, and 3) litigation and environmental counsel in the large firm setting, representing major private commercial enterprises.
Mr. Samimi spent several years focused on cannabis law, representing cities and counties in jurisdictions throughout California, specifically helping them to enforce their cannabis regulations through litigation. He is now on the private side, where he helps his cannabis industry clients to navigate the same complex regulatory maze that he previously enforced. However, the cannabis practice area is no longer a small niche, but has expanded dramatically in recent years to encompass legal issues of all kinds.
