SECTION MEETING: CRIMINAL LAW

TOPIC: The Human Element: Compassionate Advocacy for Vulnerable and Incarcerated Clients

Drawing from her experience as an Assistant Federal Public Defender, CJA lawyer, and trial attorney in private practice, Sandra will share insights on advocating for clients from underserved communities, including those with mental illnesses or disabilities, clients held in custody, and those fearful of the justice system. She will also explore strategies for building trust and forging attorney-client relationships with hesitant clients.

Presented By: Sandra Lechman, Esq.

Sandra C. Lechman is a trial attorney who served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender at the Federal Public Defenders of San Diego for 7 years, and a CJA trial and appellate lawyer for 3 years, where  she tried numerous federal criminal cases to verdict, handled dozens of complex federal investigations, and argued appeals before the 9th Circuit. Sandra is currently a trial attorney at Aarvig & Associates, where she handles public agency investigations, litigation, and trials.

OCPA is a State Bar of California Approved MCLE provider and certifies that this event qualifies for MCLE CREDIT 1.0.
