Hot Button Issues and Current Pitfalls in Chapter 7 and 13 Petition Crafting This discussion will focus on areas of bankruptcy law that are currently in flux and/or directly impact petition preparation. Some of the areas covered will be IRC qualified retirement accounts, trustee carve outs, real property, taxes, student loans, income for purposes of the means test or Schedule I, and valid deductions/expenses for the means test or Schedule J.

Presented by: Christian Spaulding, Esq., Spaulding Law Group Mr. Spaulding obtained his undergraduate degree from Chapman University in Orange, CA with a bachelor of science in accounting. While completing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Spaulding was the recipient of the prestigious Wall Street Journal Student Business Award. Mr. Spaulding graduated at the top of his accounting program at Chapman University and proceeded to attend law school at Chapman University School of Law where he received a merit scholarship based on his undergraduate studies performance. During law school, Mr. Spaulding distinguished himself as an executive board member of the Chapman Law Review. Mr. Spaulding participated in the tax law emphasis program at Chapman School of Law where he assisted taxpayers in their battles in tax court against the Internal Revenue Service.

OCPA is a State Bar of California Approved MCLE provider and certifies that this seminar qualifies for MCLE CREDIT 1.0.

HUGS PROJECT

Throughout 2013, the OCPA will support our troops by collecting socks at each General Meeting and Section Meeting for The Hugs Project.  Started in 2004, The Hugs Project is dedicated to sending care packages to our Service Men and Women deployed in the Middle East.  

Please bring as many socks as you can - tube, crew and especially moisture wicking socks are needed.
