Ethics in the Legal Field 

Presented by: Hon. Judge Brickner and Hon. Judge Smith

Hon. David H. Brickner (Ret.) is a veteran of more than 600 successful mediations and arbitrations. He joined JAMS after 31 years of distinguished service with the Orange County municipal and superior courts and as a trial attorney in private practice. Judge Brickner is highly regarded for his intellect, innovation, and decisiveness. He is accomplished at streamlining the case management process and focusing on the important issues in a case. Judge Brickner also has extensive experience serving as a discovery referee and special master.

Hon. James L. Smith (Ret.), in 1997 after 26 years as a trial court judge, retired from the Orange County Superior Court to become a full-time arbitrator, discovery referee, and mediator. To this day, he is the only Orange County Judge, active or retired, to have been assigned to all of the Court's calendars. In addition to serving two terms as Presiding Judge of the Court, Judge Smith was Presiding Judge of the Probate Department, Supervising Judge of the Criminal Panel, and assigned to the Complex Litigation Panel, Family Law Panel, Criminal Trial Panel, Law and Motion, Civil Trials, Juvenile Court, and General Trials.

OCPA is a State Bar of California Approved MCLE provider and certifies that this seminar qualifies for MCLE ETHICS CREDIT 1.0.

Fee: Free for OCPA Members and $10.00 for Non-Members with payment via website event.

HUGS PROJECT

Throughout 2013, the OCPA will support our troops by collecting socks at each General Meeting and Section Meeting for The Hugs Project. Started in 2004, The Hugs Project is dedicated to sending care packages to our Service Men and Women deployed in the Middle East.

Please bring as many socks as you can - tube, crew and especially moisture wicking socks are needed.
