Marsy's Law - The California Victims' Bill of Rights Act of 2008

An Amendment to the state's Constitution and certain Penal Code sections enacted by voters through the initiative process. The Act protects and expands the legal rights of victims of crime to include 17 rights in the judicial process  including the right to legal standing, protection from the defendant, notification of all court proceedings, and restitution, as well as granting parole boards far greater powers to deny inmates parole.

Presented by: Michael L. Fell. Esq.  Mr. Fell is a former Orange County Senior Deputy District Attorney. While an Orange County prosecutor for over 18 years, Mr. Fell handled many high profile cases and prosecuted various criminal offenses including, but not limited to: Murder, Arson, Gang cases, Sexual Offenses, and Organized Crime. While in the OCDA’s Office, Mr. Fell was recognized for his efforts in receiving the prestigious Ambassador of Peace Award from the Violence Prevention Coalition of Orange County in 2003. Mr. Fell has also received accolades and awards from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Community Services Program (CSP)/Victim Witness of Orange County and the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County. OCPA is a State Bar of California Approved MCLE provider and certifies that this seminar qualifies for MCLE CREDIT 1.0.

Event Fee: $10.00 for OCPA members, $20.00 for non-members and $20.00 for all walk-ins who have not pre-registered online  (both members and non-members).
