Discovery:  What You Need to Succeed in Your Employment Law Case

This presentation will take a look at the discovery process from the plaintiff's perspective.  Topics will include:  handling witness interviews (friendly, hostile and neutral witnesses), requests for production of documents, special and form interrogatories, request for admissions, depositions and third party discovery.

Presented by: Melissa Petrofsky, Esq.  Ms. Petrofsky's legal career revolves around one idea: empowerment.  Legal situations are impossible to navigate without knowledge, expertise, and passion. One cannot meet and defeat legal hurdles unarmed. Melissa has the intellect, strategy, and drive to achieve her clients' goals.

Employment law has been Melissa's area of expertise for nearly a decade.  Whether representing a sexual harassment victim, a whistleblower, or the victim of racial profiling, Melissa uses her wisdom, experience, and empathy to avidly pursue her clients' rights.

Melissa has successfully litigated against most major employment defense firms in California.  She has prevailed against attacks on the pleading, discovery motions, and dispositive motions.  Melissa's guiding principle has always been to empower her clients by using her legal skills to advocate for truth and justice. Her clients have ranged from part-time sales clerks to CEO's, from teenagers to great-grandmothers. Melissa approaches every case with zealous representation - she understands that every case is a person's life.

Embracing the core values of authority, inspiration, and empowerment, Melissa has recently been named to the Super Lawyers Rising Star list for 2015.  Melissa holds a juris doctor degree from Whittier Law School and bachelor's degree in education from Culver-Stockton College.  She has served as a valued speaker on employment issues at industry events and has taught employment issues to graduate students at Loma Linda University.
