Relativity Analytics Overview and Tutorial, Including Concept Analytics; Structured Analytics

Synopsis: In this tutorial, we will provide a general overview of the two Analytics tools offered in Relativity versions 8 and higher – Concept Analytics as well as Structured Analytics. We will review the underlying technologies, processes, and concepts for each tool, and then delve into each of the specific features that are part of each Analytics suite. We will discuss the difference between concept-based versus text-and-metadata-based analytics, as well as use cases for each feature and suite. The objective is to familiarize the audience with the concepts behind the technology as well as the individual features, with an end goal of allowing the user to customize advanced analytics-based workflows that are tailored to the specific needs of their particular review.

Presented by: Farhhad Mahmoudi, Client Services Director, Los Angeles - DTI and Greg Mahoney, eDiscovery Consultant, Orange County - DTI

Presenter Bios:  Farhad Mahmoudi joined DTI in 2011 from the corporate client side of the e-discovery industry.  He spent the previous 5 years working at Qualcomm's corporate headquarters in San Diego as a Discovery Project Manager, with responsibilities spanning the breadth of the EDRM spectrum: assisting on data collection done by the in-house forensics team; processing and imaging data; managing review; and formatting final productions.  He now heads up the Client Services team that manages DTI's eDiscovery operations out of their Los Angeles datacenter, with a nationwide client base and support for other DTI offices ranging from San Diego and San Francisco to Phoenix, Denver, and New York.  He is a Relativity Certified Administrator and also serves as a subject matter expert for the Clearwell hosting platform.  Farhad earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UC Berkeley and his Master of Arts degree, also in History, from UC San Diego.

Greg Mahoney currently serves as a DTI eDiscovery consultant for multiple territories including Orange County/San Diego, CA, Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV. Prior to DTI,  Greg held positions with both the U.S. Government and AM Law 100 Firms.Greg was introduced to the eDiscovery world during his time with the Massachusetts’ Department of Revenue, Litigation Bureau. While working with this municipality, Greg utilized tools such as Concordance and CaseMap to assist with the case team’s discovery needs. As a litigation technology analyst at Mintz Levin, Greg gained additional experience with litigation support tools such as Introspect, LiveNote and Law 5.0. Daily usage of these tools expanded his skillset and exposed him to the granular issues that need to be considered throughout the lifecycle of a case. In addition to supervising internal processes, Greg served as the liason between case teams and service providers on large scale ediscovery efforts. After Mintz Levin,  Greg joined Gibson Dunn and Crutcher where he advised the firm’s clients and internal case teams on best practices throughout the EDRM including but not limited to, forensic collections, data processing, hosting, and document review. After utilizing Relativity for years, Greg achieved the RCA credential and performed the first internal TAR matter using Equivio. Overall, his experience within the government and law firm setting allows Greg to view eDiscovery issues and challenges through his client’s perspective and tailor workflows for their particular needs. He is a University of Dallas graduate and received his BA in Political Science, magna cum laude.
