"Credit.  We all need it, but know little about it."

Credit is as integral in today’s modern real estate transaction as the real property records

Presented by: Zachary Zaharek, Esq.

Join us in exploring the history of the credit report in the United States.  The story begins with a small town store in 1830’s rural Minnesota and continues with the booming post-civil war industrial revolution lead by John D. Rockefeller.  Follow the growth of the big three credit bureaus and the advent of how the department stores used credit to keep customers.  Learn how LBJ’s Civil Rights Act of 1964 evolved into Nixon’s Equal Credit Opportunity Act.  Understand the components of the modern day credit report and how China is establishing a “social credit score” for the 21st century.  This hour long whirl wind presentation includes movie clips, podcasts and much, much more.  Told by First American Data Tree's Zachary Zaharek, Esq., JD/MBA.

Speaker Bio: Zaharek is employed by First American Data Tree and is the Division Vice President, Senior Corporate Counsel.  For years, Zaharek  taught at the University of California, Irvine’s Paralegal extension program as well as a local law school.  In 2006, Zaharek was awarded Distinguished Instructor of the Year.  Zaharek speaks regularly before the Orange County Paralegal Association.  Since 2005, Zaharek has sat on the University of California, Irvine’s Curriculum Advisory Council.
